I have vastly more respect for Hamilton after watching “ Uppity” on Netflix.

I wonder how many times he’s been told that he’s “ one of the good ones”?

I’m willing to bet far more than we’d all like to admit.

And I'm of the belief that even once is three times too many.

After his social media post, a lot of other drivers seem to have commented on their social media.

I get Hamilton’s point, but F1 as a whole needs to either go all-in or stay out of issues like this. I’m not saying that the current protests are unwarranted, but it’s easy for F1 to say they understand and support Lewis’ message and the fight against racism, police brutality, etc.

Many have spoken up, but will they speak up again when F1 goes to China ? Bahrain? Russia? Even Canada’s treatment of indigenous people is shameful.

It’s easy to stand up and show support when you know you will lose nothing from it. Let’s see what happens when sponsorship money is involved, what will drivers and teams say then?

None of this is meant to make light of the situation, just another perspective.

Good. Racing is white as fuck, from fans to drivers , and from club level  to F1 .

I don’t know how much publicity this has received overseas - I now guess quite a bit since other F1 drivers have weighed in following Lewis’s statement. But I wouldn’t necessarily expect F1 drivers to know about and weigh in on US issues, just as I wouldn’t expect US-based NASCAR or IndyCar drivers to take positions on things happening in Europe or Asia unless it was something that I knew was hugely publicized .

Does everyone have to weigh in on everything, most of which aren’t even remotely involved or informed?

If ASKED with a cogent question as to why an F1 driver would have a rele vant and germane opinion about something going on elsewhere... absolutely... voice your answer, and proceed.

But everyone voicing every opinion on everything all the time tends to make things more chaotic, not less, and will make those with something relevant to say drowned in a sea of rambling platitudes.

I think we can give F1 drivers, London palace g ua rds, various south American restaurant owners, buddhist monks, and various other people unrelated to the current events the benefit of the doubt that they tend to find tragedies tragic, and injustices abhorrent, without calling them out as if they did something wrong by not inserting themselves into a situation in which they aren’t involved.

Have you read the comments in the NASCAR driver’s BLM posts?

Wretched.

It’s gotten huge  overseas. There have been protests in Berlin, Milan, Dublin, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Rio, Auckland, Perth, and many others.

Nope.  But if it's as bad as you say it is, time to put the feet of the sponsors in the fire.

:) I was curious what kind of garbage bias article it was (character assassination/ victim blaming) and was pleasantly surprised.
